Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20th 2026

At Jewelry Generations, many of the pieces we make carry deeply personal details: a name, a date, a handwritten note, a fingerprint. We take the trust that comes with that seriously. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and what choices and rights you have.

This policy applies to our website, www.jewelrygenerations.com, and to any order, message or other interaction you have with us.

1. Who we are

Jewelry Generations is operated by Générations Jewelry, located at 10405 Avenue de L'Esplanade, Montréal, QC. Canada. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Jewelry Generations, and "you" refers to anyone who visits our website or buys from us.

2. Person responsible for protecting your personal information

Our person in charge of the protection of personal information is:

Anne Jurtschyschyn, Owner

Email: info@jewelrygenerations.com

You can contact this person with any question, request or complaint about your personal information.

3. What information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact and order details: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and order history.
  • Personalization details: the content you ask us to engrave or create, such as names, initials, dates, messages, handwriting, photos and fingerprint images.
  • Communications: the messages you send us by email, contact form or social media, including questions, returns and order corrections.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you have agreed to receive our emails or other promotional messages.

Payment information: payments are processed securely by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal). We do not see or store your full credit card number.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and our service providers may collect technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, time spent on the site and how you arrived there. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).

4. Why we use your information

We use your personal information only for the following purposes:

  • To process, personalize, produce and ship your order.
  • To communicate with you about your order, including confirmations, proofs, shipping updates, returns and corrections.
  • To answer your questions and provide customer service.
  • To send you news, offers and promotions, only if you have agreed to receive them.
  • To understand how our website is used and improve it, only if you have accepted analytics cookies.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website and transactions secure.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We will not use your information for any other purpose without asking for your consent first, unless the law allows it.

5. How we collect your information

We collect your information when you place an order, create an account, fill out a form, upload files for a custom piece, sign up for our emails, contact us, or browse our website.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website. We use:

  • Essential cookies, which are necessary for the website to work (for example, to keep items in your cart and complete checkout). These are always on.
  • Analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors use our site.
  • Marketing cookies, which help us measure our advertising and show you relevant ads on other platforms.

Analytics and marketing cookies are turned off by default and are only activated if you accept them through our cookie banner. You can change your choices at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" at the bottom of our website or by adjusting your browser settings.

7. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who need it to help us run our business, and only what they need to do their job:

  • E-commerce platform: Shopify, which hosts our website and stores order information.
  • Payment processors: such as Shopify Payments and PayPal.
  • Shipping carriers: such as Canada Post, to deliver your order.
  • Production partners: the jewellers who make and engrave your piece, who receive only the personalization details needed to make it.
  • Email and marketing tools: [e.g. Shopify Email / Klaviyo], to send emails you have agreed to receive.
  • Analytics and advertising tools: [e.g. Google Analytics, Meta], only if you have accepted these cookies.

These providers must protect your information and may only use it to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information where required by law, for example in response to a valid request from a court or government authority.

8. Where your information is stored

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Québec, including elsewhere in Canada, in the United States and in other countries [add any others, e.g. India, if your production partners are located there]. Before sharing information outside Québec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, and we have agreements in place requiring our providers to protect it.

9. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Order and transaction records: for the period required by tax and accounting laws (generally 6 years).
  • Personalization files (such as fingerprints, handwriting and photos): we keep the images on hand. Let us know if you would like them deleted.
  • Marketing information: until you unsubscribe.

When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

10. How we protect your information

We use reasonable security measures to protect your information, including secure (SSL) checkout, password-protected accounts and limited access to customer data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

If a confidentiality incident occurs that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec as required by law.

11. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent to certain uses, such as marketing emails or non-essential cookies.
  • Ask us to delete your information when it is no longer needed, subject to our legal obligations.
  • Receive a copy of the information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format.
  • Be informed if we use your information to make a decision based solely on automated processing.

To make a request, contact the person named in section 2. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca).

12. Marketing emails

We only send promotional emails if you have agreed to receive them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also contact us at any time to stop receiving them.
