Taking Fingerprints Using the Pencil Technique
Out of time to order a Fingerprint Kit? No worries.
Capturing a beautiful fingerprint at home is simple and a little bit of practice is completely normal! Here’s what you’ll need:
- A pencil
- Plain white paper
- Clear Sticky Tape
How to Take the Fingerprint:
1. Make sure fingers are clean and dry before starting.
2. Using the pencil, heavily shade a small square area on the white paper by scribbling over the same spot several times.
3. Rub the finger gently across the shaded pencil area — the graphite will coat the fingertip.
4. Press the sticky side of the tape onto the fingerprint and carefully lift it away.
5. Stick the tape onto a clean white sheet of paper. Repeat with different fingers if you'd like
6. Check the prints under the tape to make sure you're happy with the detail and clarity.
